Michael Bolton is gaga over one of his recent collaborators.
“I love her … I adore her,”
gushes the 57-year-old crooner about pop phenom Lady Gaga, who cowrote the song Murder My Heart on his new CD One World One Love.
“I didn’t know who Gaga was because her record hadn’t come out yet,” he says. “I had heard she was an excellent songwriter, but I didn’t know what it was going to be like working with her until I got to the
studio and we hit it off. We became friends immediately and had a lot in common immediately … and the more I got to know her, the more I liked her.”
On working with Lady Gaga:
When I met her and she started singing these melodies and lyrics to me, I realized I had a real artist in front of me. Someone who can actually sing and doesn’t need to be AutoTuned to sound good. She was the real thing. And she was so excited about what we were going to work on. I said, ‘It’s got to be something that’s going to kill people when they hear it.’ She said, ‘I have this idea for a title called Murder My Heart.’ So that’s how it began. We worked from 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. the first night, so there’s no question about her work ethic. And we did the same thing the next night. Then we finished the lyrics in London. Her mom was in London too, so I took the two of them out to dinner.
I remember her mother was a bit concerned whether her daughter was being hyped; whether the company was getting her too concerned about her career before her album came out. It’s funny; cut from that moment to four months later, when she obviously surpassed her mother’s expectations and became huge. That’s great. I love to see someone that focused who already has that vision of her career. People compare her to a new Madonna, a young Madonna, but I think she has the reins of her career more than when Madonna started out. She’s in on every aspect, from songwriting production to what the next video’s going to look like. She’s the epitome of an artist.

AMERICAN Idol runner-up Adam Lambert yesterday told how he bonded with his hero Lady Gaga – thanks to a love of whisky.
The singer, who received a standing ovation from judge Simon Cowell on the US show, has been described as the male equivalent of Gaga.
Yesterday, he jetted into Scotland on a whistle-stop tour to promote his new album and was delighted to strap on a 21st-century kilt for the Razz.
He said of his spiky sporran: “It’s like having a cactus – a little pet cactus.
“I’m not a true Scotsman today because I’ve teamed up the kilt with some plaid leggings – but I’d like to wear this back home in the US too.”
LA-born Adam, 28, revealed he has a lot in common with Lady Gaga, who wrote the song Fever for his album For Your Entertainment.
He said: “We had a couple of whiskies and traded stories about life and music in the studio and, in some ways, we are cut from a similar cloth.
“She did theatre for a while too and she got into the club kid scene in New York and I did in LA. We had a similar experience and it’s a compliment to be dubbed the male version of her.”

Gaga’s videos have exceeded 1 billion views online.
Lady Gaga is having quite a week. After revealing she’s about to start work on her next music video for her “Alejandro” track comes news that she’s broken two records, one for video views and one for music sales.
First off, the singer is now the only digital-era artist to top the 5 million sales mark with her first two hits, according to Yahoo Music. Gaga broke the record when her single “Poker Face” reached 5 million in sales after her debut single, “Just Dance,” accomplished that feat last year. The only other act with two songs at or above 5 million is the Black Eyed Peas, according to Yahoo.
And if selling millions of records weren’t enough, Gaga also reached the 1 billion mark in video views. According to Mashable, with numbers and analytics compiled by Visible Measures, Gaga is the first artist to have her videos reach 1 billion views. Three of her music videos hold spots in the 100 Million Club, including “Poker Face” (374,606,128), “Just Dance” (272,941,674) and “Bad Romance” (360,020,327). Most of the streams are through Vevo and YouTube. Following close behind Gaga’s record are “Twilight” (980 million) and Soulja Boy Tell’em (860 million).
Last weekend, Gaga celebrated her 24th birthday and showed off one of her gifts online. In a photo posted on Twitter, she held up a red teacup and wrote, “Nothing like a communist-red teacup to make for the perfect Birthday gift. Last words are for fools who haven’t said enough.”

Michael Jackson thrills in multiple flavors – one portrait captures his essence with M&M’s, while another uses licorice and gumdrops. And our candy Beyonce looks good enough to – well, let’s just says she looks good enough to stare at and admire! The Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson and Elvis portraits will feel right at home in their new surroundings – new Ripley’s Candy Stores that have been added to several Ripley’s attractions around the country.
Beyonce and Marilyn Monroe will hang in the lobby of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Odditorium in Orlando. The portraits were created by Mexico City artist Enrique Ramos who previously has done several pieces for Ripley’s. Picasso may have had his blue period, but Ramos is now experiencing his “sweet” period. These portraits are 100% candy, and include Gummy Bears, licorice, Fruit by the Foot, M&M’s, after-dinner mints and candy hearts. As Beyonce says, “Put a Ring (pop) on It.”

Together with The Impossible Project (TIP), Jesse Friedin has created The Doggie Gaga Project which sees a Boston Terrier, a Mexican hairless, a Shiba Inu, and two Pit Bulls dress up in Gaga’s various guises.
Freidin dressed his canine models in five of Lady Gaga’s most famous outfits, and photographed them using two packs of Polaroid film.
Nothing like a communist-red teacup to make for the perfect Birthday gift. Last words are for fools who haven't said enough.
An exhausted Lady Gaga recovered from her explosive Auckland concerts by fishing in her high heels on Waiheke Island.
Jason Schwarz, general manager of Waiheke’s Goldwater Estate Vineyard, said the “eccentric” pop star relaxed with him, his children and staff for two days after her performances at Vector Arena last weekend.
Schwarz said she appeared “knackered” when she arrived by helicopter on the island – thanks to an all-night clubbing session til 4am.
Rumours have been circulating on the internet that the star collapsed after her final performance of Bad Romance, where she was uncharacteristically sluggish on stage – sitting while she sang and lying down after stripping off her headgear.
“I think she was okay though, she was just pretty tired,” said Schwarz.
The superstar visited with a group of dancers and a bodyguard, who all loved the barbecued sausages, tarakihi and oysters his staff prepared for them.
And she spent at least one day beach fishing.
“She’s pretty eccentric, she didn’t take her heels off once.
“She went down to Onetangi beach to go fishing in her eight-inch heels, undies and a man’s business shirt – that’s it. She still had her bright yellow hair.”

“I love her. She’s really smart. I caught her on ‘Oprah’ and she was really chill. I used to be like, yeah, I guess she’s talented but how much is she really singing. But I’ve become a convert. She has to be smart to come up with all her gags and the stuff she comes up with. She gets it. She knows exactly what she’s doing. It’s like Dolly Parton. Dolly plays up that I’m-a-cute-dumb-blonde but, believe me, she’s not dumb. She’s sitting on a ba-jillion dollars.”

Lady Gaga’s pop-culture-suffused “Telephone” video has garnered millions of views across the Web, birthed a rush of graduate-level study to pick out every movie and music reference and touched off a public backlash when people mistakenly thought the footage had been banned from MTV. Everyone has taken notice, it seems, including the stars of ’70s rock biopic “The Runaways.”
“She’s really hot,” Kristen Stewart told MTV News about Gaga. “She’s got a look.”
Co-star Dakota Fanning concurred: “I am a fan of Lady Gaga because I think she’s a really good singer and a really great entertainer and when you watch her perform, you know it’s going to be a show. I think that’s really cool.”

The performance artist and personal trainer chats about making out with the most famous woman in the world.
By Noah Michelson
Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” video is nothing short of epic. Nearly 10 minutes long, it picks up where her “Paparazzi” video ended — with the pop star headed to jail for murder. Once inside, Gaga does what any woman in her situation would do — she finds herself a hot girlfriend. Canadian performance artist and personal trainer Heather Cassils was handpicked by Gaga to play the role of her prison yard girlfriend. We chatted with Cassils to find out how she ended up in the “Telephone” video, her feelings about depictions of queer women in mainstream media, and what it’s like to make out with the most famous woman in the world.
Out: Were you familiar with Gaga’s work before you were cast for the shoot?
Heather Cassils: I was not a totally massive fan per se, but my background and training is as an artist, and I did notice she was bringing a lot of elements of performance art into her pop cultural practice. And she has referenced people like Leigh Bowery and feminist performances, so I was aware of that, and that’s what caught my eye about her more than anything else — as well as the fact that she was doing something different and presenting herself differently from other pop stars who have been around in the last little while.
How did you get cast in the video?
I got cast because I work as a personal trainer. I run my own independent contracting business, and I run it out of a gay gym in Silver Lake. There’s a woman at my gym named Dallas, and she’s also kind of an aspiring actress of sorts, and she had been called in to play one of the guards. She called me up from the casting and said they were desperate for bodybuilders, and she told them, “There’s this person at my gym who’s not a pro bodybuilder, but she has a really cut physique,” and she suggested I’d be perfect for it. So I went down and auditioned — but I’m not hormones or anything like that — so they ended up casting me as an inmate in the prison scene. They were blocking the scene, and the woman who was blocking for Gaga disappeared, and Gaga came out, and she just kind of instantly called me over, and it just happened like that. She called me over and asked me to portray her girlfriend and said, “OK, you’re going to be my prison girlfriend, and you’re going to come to me, and I’d like you to touch me inappropriately.” [Laughs] We just kind of went from there.

If anybody has access to call Lady Gaga up and chat for a bit, it’s Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger, who toured with Gaga in 2009. And if Scherzinger can get her on the phone, she’s got a few specific things she’d like to ask.
“If I could call Lady Gaga on the phone and ask her for anything … I would ask her if she could design my next costume for my next music video. No, I would ask her to do a song with me,” she joked. “Because she is flipping brilliant.”
After getting the career-related stuff out of the way, she’s got a question about a little something she gave Gaga a while back. “I’d ask her, you know what I would say, I say, ‘Gaga, you still have those really pretty Vivienne Westwood earrings that I bought you when we were on tour?’ And if she says, ‘Yeah,’ I’ll say, ‘OK, cool, you remember those earrings, right? Yeah, when are we going to do a song together?” she joked.
And while Scherzinger is currently in reinvention mode with the Pussycat Dolls, she told us she admires Gaga’s ability to constantly reinvent her own look. “Already within the year, two years she’d been on the scene, she’s just always inspiring us with music,” she said. “She’s reinvented herself eight times this past week!”

Lady Gaga is currently in the midst of the Australian leg of her massive Monster Ball tour — with scheduled stops in Japan and Europe — and, as you probably know by now, she’s also putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated “Telephone” video, too.
But neither of those things are standing in the way of yet another ambitious endeavor, a planned 3-D concert and subsequent DVD.
On Monday (March 8), MTV News spoke to a rep for her label, Interscope Records, who told us that “there are talks about a 3-D concert and DVD in the near future.” No other information — including just how a 3-D concert would manifest — was available at press time.
Late last week, Gaga fansites began speculating about plans for a 3-D DVD, but this is the first time a concert has been mentioned. In December, Gaga released a deluxe edition of her Fame Monster album, which included a pair of 3-D glasses that she mysteriously explained would come in handy “for things happening soon.”
In the mean time, her Little Monsters are gearing up for the debut of the “Telephone” video — the follow-up to her striking “Bad Romance” clip — which, after weeks of teasing from Gaga herself and some last-minute editing is scheduled to premiere Thursday at 11:30 p.m. ET on E! News.

Lady GaGa and Beyoncé’s ‘Telephone’ video will be unveiled next Thursday, it has been announced.
The eagerly-anticipated pop promo will receive its exclusive world premiere during the March 11 episode of US entertainment show E! News.
The video has been directed by Jonas Akerlund, who previously worked with GaGa on her ‘Paparazzi’ clip.
GaGa recently revealed that the video is a continuation of the ‘Paparazzi’ promo and will begin with the singer in prison for killing her boyfriend.
Discussing the video with Ryan Seacrest on KIIS-FM recently, she said: “I feel so bad for the ‘Bad Romance’ video ’cause the ‘Telephone’ video’s so much better.
“What I like about it is it’s a real true pop event, and when I was younger, I was always excited when there was a big giant event happening in pop music and that’s what I wanted this to be.”
‘Telephone’, taken from GaGa’s album reissue The Fame Monster, is currently at number 30 on the UK singles chart.

In the contemporary fashion dialogue, no celebrity is paid more lip service than Lady Gaga. Such is her reach that the Global Language Monitor recently revealed that “Lady Gaga” topped the list of the most searched fashion terms, with “no pants” a close third. The Moment recently caught up with the fashion plate du jour, who was surprisingly candid and dressed in mufti — an outfit of checked shirt, black tights and vertiginous heels that brought to mind Mary-Kate without the grande nonfat latte — to talk about everything from her new gig as a mouthpiece for M.A.C. and its AIDS fund to her constantly referring to herself in the third person.
I have to say that meeting you is rather odd. It’s like interviewing Mr. T. What to call you?
[Laughs] Lady Gaga or Gaga is fine. Everyone calls me one of the two, and it’s very normal. I think it’s mostly about being in my world and understanding what I do. Everyone here is around the magic that happens when I work with, say, Terence Koh or Francesco Vezzoli or Frank Gehry. When you’re around me and really see that all I do is live and breathe for my work, it’s not strange, it’s just Gaga.
Got it. Before we turned on the tape recorder, I was talking to you about betrayal. Is that something you think about more than ever?
Absolutely. You have no idea. More than dealing with betrayal, though, what is really hard is that I have had to leave my past behind me. It’s hard knowing who to trust with your personal life. When you cry in your room at night, you don’t always know who to call. So I am very close to my family.
Why would you disconnect yourself from your past?
I left it behind because I had to. For many reasons, like drugs. It’s no secret that I have had problems with drugs in the past. And some places represent to me things in terms of my mental and physical health, so you learn to move on, to preserve what your mission in life is, and my greater mission is my fans.
Really? That sounds very selfless for a pop star.
It is selfless. But, you know, I am very lucky. I work very hard, but when God opens that door for you — when life opens that door for you, I should say — I think it’s important to be giving, to return the love back. I have a spiritual guide, not a therapist but someone who in my mind is connected with a higher being, and he helps me a lot.
RING RING its coming little monsters
